indy bridal show = scottish rite cathedral in indianapolis

As many of you know, I have yet to do a bridal show, much less attend one. I have been very fortunate to have the BEST bride’s and groom’s on this planet, that spread my name with referrals (I love you guys!) I have been pondering however if I wanted to do a bridal show next year, so Steven and I decided to head to the Bridal Show in Indy at the Scottish Rite Cathedral.

I saw many vendors that I recognized from decorating the venues and delivering flowers and I saw a few photographers that I have met “online” via facebook but not in person. Most of all I saw lots of beautiful cakes, wedding dresses, reception set ups by planners and more – I was in girl heaven! I love every aspect of a wedding and I adore photographing all of the small details. There was one wedding planner that had a dum dum sucker cake and a candy set up that was whimsical fun and full of color! I saw the most fabulous wedding dress, and I turned and looked at Steven and said, “I would photograph the crap out of that dress” and he just died laughing at me (yep, I say stupid things, all the time for a laugh.) It was really cool to see the Indy Photo Booth in action as well!

I love the small things that make a wedding.

I was really hoping to kind of look around and I honestly didn’t plan on speaking to anyone, as I wouldn’t want to take their time from perspective clients and be rude (us photographers have everything on line, so it’s not like scoping out the competition lol) so I didn’t wear the red beads that bride on it – however, I think I should have worn one that said NOT the bride on it. I didn’t realize I would be approached as I walked through, so, compelled to be the honest person that I am, I felt the need to tell them I’m not a bride, just a photographer looking around as to not take up anymore of their time or waste their handouts. But I must say, I met a lot of really nice people in the wedding industry today – and they probably think I’m a weirdo for walking around looking at all of the cool things that make up a wedding.

Honestly going today and seeing all of the cakes, flowers and dresses made me think that maybe in a few years Steven and I might have to renew our vows and have a REAL wedding….just saying.

Bonnie - I attended with daughter #3, as daughter #2 got engaged in Dec and we were looking for wedding ideas. Had a great time and it was so much nicer than one we attended 2 weeks later in Chicago! It was downtown Chicago at the Sofhotel and we were in and out in about 45 min and only tables to just talk to people, so Indy really was alot nicer and we enjoyed it and got lots more ideas.

Do you remember/get a card for the candy lady? I know she told us her grandson? was setting up a web site for her a couple weeks later and I cannot find her card to contact her.
thanks, B >:0)

Linh - I attended the bridal show on Sat and we had a great time! It was the best show I’ve been to with a lot of good ideas and great vendors. My sister said the same thing u said, walking around and seeing everything made her want to renew her vows in the future, too!
