Sharon and Kalani’s wedding was nothing short of joy, tears, and laughter! It was a very odd day for a June summer day as it was very cold (about 50 degrees I believe) with winds more than 30 mph!! The girls braved the cold winds and we had to take about 20 frames to get one frame that their dress or hair wasn’t blowing straight up, and I’m very grateful to them for their patience with the weather. You may notice the black beads that the guys are wearing, this is a Hawaiian tradition! The bride and groom were married in their church in Indianapolis and the bride’s brother played the piano during the ceremony and the groom’s mother sang a beautiful Hawaiian melody! I can still close my eyes and hear her beautiful voice.
Because the bride and groom did not want to have a first look, they wanted photos of them not actually “seeing” each other. It was such a sweet moment when the bride just got a strange look on her face then fled into the other room crying. “It’s just his hand, I don’t know why I’m crying!” and of course, then everyone else started to tear up. It was so sweet. Sharon’s sister Sarah was such a huge part of her day and she did such a fabulous job to make sure her sister’s wedding was fabulous!
I was so honored to have been able to capture their special day! Here are a few of my favorites, including some requested family portraits (since I never blog those!)
