the wonders of a white safety pin :: tips and tricks for brides to be

You would never think that after all of these years there would be something that I haven’t witnessed or discovered during a wedding day, but without fail, I learn something new at each wedding.  A few weeks ago at Jacki’s wedding here in Indianapolis, I noticed she was using a pure white safety pin.  I quickly captured this photo, and at that instance, since I was mentally in the “zone” capturing her preparations for her wedding day, I instinctively knew something was different about what I was seeing.  Now, when I say safety pin, I don’t mean the kind that is for diapers, etc.  She was using it to pin her engagement ring to the inside of her wedding day dress because she didn’t want to wear it down the isle.  I’ve never seen a white safety pin before!  And trust me, I shop online, a lot haha!  I finally found two companies that makes them, Singer and Simplicity, and I found them online at www.Joann.com and on Amazon.  They come in a package of white and black size 1 and 2, which is perfect.  I can not tell you how many times I have seen bustles that have been broken, stepped on, loose, etc. and they had to “rig it” or sew it.  Well, if your wedding gown is white, this is a perfect quick fix (especially since the bride usually discovers it only moments before the first dance.)  The black would really come in handy for the guys Tux or suit (and we’ve seen those rip many times) or even to hold a boutonniere that is falling off (pinning it from the inside of course) since most of the guy’s wardrobes are black.  I don’t come across too many “emergency kit needs” that are new to me often, but I really thought I would share this!  I think it would be especially useful to have for those wedding planners and coordinators out there, because it is usually moments before the first dance it’s needed!!  Happy Planning!
